Reading Strategies
Just Right Books
- Look at the cover.
- Read the title and the author. Read the blurb on the back or inside cover.
- Flip through the book.
- Use the “5 Finger Rule”
- Read the first page—holding up your hand in a fist—if you don’t know a word, put up a finger
Making Connections
This strategy is helpful in teaching students to make Multi-Level Connections with text deepening and enhancing comprehension.
