A Message From Mrs. Tarasiuk and Mrs. Sosin – January 17th

Dear Einstein Families,

We had a great celebration with the Windy City Bulls joining us this Thursday! We had an incredible dance competition. Our staff and students have some great moves!

Enjoy your extra day off this weekend.  As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, January 20th.  See you all back on Tuesday. 

New Kindergarten Registration
Registration for all new kindergarteners, for the 2020-2021 school year, will be on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 9:00-11:00am and 5:00-7:00pm, at your neighborhood school. If your child turns 5 years old on or before September 1, 2020 and your family is new to District 54 please read what you need to do to register for kindergarten.

  1. Families new to District 54 should go to to begin your registration before February 5th.  Print the confirmation you receive and bring it to your neighborhood school on February 6th.   Current District 54 families, with new kindergarteners, need to register through their Parent Portal account.
  2. Along with the printed confirmation, you will need to bring your student’s original birth certificate (no copies) showing the student was born on or before September 1, 2015 (State of Illinois regulation).
  3. Families new to District 54 must provide proof of residency on February 5, 2020.  All documents provided must be current, valid for 2020-2021, and reflect name and addresses within the school boundary.  Below are items that are needed to prove residency:

At least one of the following documents:
The most recent real estate tax bill for residency showing owner as the taxpayer, or a signed lease for the residence including a beginning and end date, or a closing statement for the purchase of the residence.

And at least two of the following documents:
​​​​​​​Illinois driver’s license, gas, water, electric, internet, television, telephone bill or letter confirming service connection, public assistance documentation, voter registration card, home or vehicle insurance certificate, Illinois automobile registration, or receipt for local city vehicle sticker where applicable.

Reproductive System Meetings 
We would like to invite you to attend an informational meeting regarding the Your Reproductive System (Sex Education) program for fourth, fifth and sixth grade students.  This will be an opportunity for parents to preview the materials presented to the students at the intermediate grade levels.  The presentations are scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – all sessions will be held at the Rafferty Administration Center, in the Professional Learning Center (522 E. Schaumburg Rd., IL 60194).  Dates for the grade level specific presentations are outlined below:

Fourth Grade – Tuesday, January 21, 2020

Fifth Grade – Wednesday, January 22, 2020

Sixth Grade – Thursday, January 23, 2020

The Your Reproductive System unit for students will be taught through your child’s elementary school during the health unit. If you have any questions regarding the location or dates and times of the presentations please contact the Department of Student Learning at 847/357-5031.

District 54 Cold Weather Response Plan
In order to help parents better prepare for the severe cold weather and snow we often get during winters in our community, I wanted to share with you the District 54 Severe Cold Weather Response Plan. Though District 54 makes every effort to keep our schools open and operational, circumstances beyond our control oftentimes dictate school closings..

29 – Half-day Inservice – Dismissal at 11:40AM

5  –  Incoming Kinder Registration
13 – Half-day Parent-Teacher Conferences – Dismissal at 11:40AM
14 –Parent-Teacher Conferences- no school
17 – Presidents Day – no school
28 – End of the second trimester
