Classroom Assignments

Wednesday, August 6th Grades 1-6 Class Placements Posted; Kindergarteners will be posted after screening in Parent Portal.

The Einstein  staff has worked diligently to place every child in an environment which best suits learning needs; therefore, placement change requests respectfully will not be honored. We do ask that parents/guardians do not call the office to inquire about classroom placement changes.  Although each grade level of  students are split across three to four classroom sections they still have many opportunities to be with other classmates during the week.

For additional support with logging in to the Parent Portal, kindly contact the District 54 portal support desk at [email protected].  Support is available from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you leave a message, you will receive a response during those business hours. Link to Parent Portal

Parent Portal Directions

Please enter the portal through the web or on your mobile device. You will want to navigate to More->Student Reports.
From there you will be presented with a screen to select a child and then select the 25-26 Student Schedule Report.
From there you will be presented with a screen to select a child and then select the 25-26 Student Schedule Report.

Families with outstanding registration paperwork are invited to come to Einstein prior to the first day of school to complete these required steps. Families who have not proven residency will not be able to generate the report or when they view the report.  Instead you will get information that says “please contact your front office and prove residency in order to view the complete report.”

From the Nurse: Medical Forms and Medication

In order to be ready for the first day of school, please make sure all health paperwork and/or medications are dropped off at Einstein. You are welcome to stop by between 8:00 AM and 3:00 Monday-Friday, fax health forms to our office at 630.736.250 or email our school nurse, Michelle Hill at [email protected].

Immunizations

All immunizations must be current according to the requirements of the Illinois School Code. Students who fail to comply will be excluded from school. List of Immunization Requirements by Grade Level. Information regarding Influenza (flu) and Meningococcal Disease and the vaccine can be accessed below or on the Illinois Department of Public Health website

Physical Exam

The Illinois School Code requires that children entering preschool, kindergarten (or first grade if kindergarten was not attended) and sixth grade must have had a physical exam within one year prior to starting that grade level. Students of any age transferring from a school outside Illinois must also have had a physical within the last year. School Physical Form (Spanish Physical Form) Click here for a list of clinics that offer physicals and immunizations.

Arrival & Dismissal

School hours are 8:40am – 3:00pm.  Please note, beginning Wednesday, August 21st, every Wednesday is designated for staff development.  Students are dismissed 30 minutes early at 2:30pm.

We open our doors to welcome all students in at 8:30, this is when our 1st bell rings and adult supervision begins. Our second bell rings at 8:40, as the start of the school day. Class begins promptly at 8:40. If your child arrives after 8:40, an adult will need to escort your child to the building and sign them in as tardy.

The parking lot remains closed from 8:25-8:45 and 2:55-3:10 for student safety. On Wednesdays, due to early dismissal, the parking lot will be closed from 2:25-2:40.

When dropping off students, there will be a crossing guard at the intersection of Laurie Lane and Kensington. We are very fortunate to have a crossing guard to safely guide our children during arrival and dismissal.
*There has been a change in the street signs in front of our building as well as behind the building. The change is to promote smoother traffic flow and a safer environment for our students.
Please familiarize yourself with the parking/safety signs along Laurie Lane and Kensington. There are new parking signs. Cars will only be able to drop off students on Laurie Lane utilizing the lane closest to the school. You cannot park and leave your vehicle. This area is a Drop N’ Go area. This is designed so children no longer have to cross the street when being dropped off.
Please note, the cul-de-sac behind the school does not allow for parked vehicles. There has also been a change on where vehicles can park. It is now on the opposite side of the street to allow for traffic flow. This area is a Drop N’ Go area. Please do not exit your vehicles as this can result in a traffic ticket.

Busing

If your child is eligible for busing, the District 54 Transportation Department will mail your child’s bus pass to your home before school begins. If your child rides the bus to and from school, please note the following procedures:

  • All students riding the bus are required to show their bus pass upon boarding. A replacement can be obtained in the main office if a student loses their bus pass.

Electric Bikes, Scooters, and Skateboards

Electric bikes, scooters and skateboards are NOT permitted on District 54 property, due to safety concerns including the potential for accidents and the possibility of fire associated with such devices. This applies to students, as well as to family members and friends who may be picking up or dropping off students at school.

District 54 Virtual Backpack

District 54 shares information about community events with our students and families through our Virtual Backpack. We know that parents are interested in extracurricular activities. At the same time, we don’t want the homework, letters from the teachers, school news and other important district information to get lost among the countless other pieces of paper in our students’ backpacks. Please click the link for additional information: https://sd54.org/virtualbackpack/

Lunch and Recess Periods

Lunch times and recess times are alternated to maximize space and student safety. We understand that students may forget their lunch at times, however it is critical that food is sent with your child and not dropped off.
Einstein’s lunch and recess periods are listed below:
11:00-11:45 3rd and 6th
11:45-12:30 Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th
12:30-1:15 1st and 5th
Please note: On Half-Day Inservice days there are no lunch periods since students are dismissed at 11:40am.

No Food Deliveries Allowed

With a focus on student and staff safety, District 54 will not allow food delivery services to our schools. We will continue to have hot lunch days, which are planned events, organized and supervised by school or PTA volunteers. Please note that if you need to drop off a lunch, baskets will be available outside of the main door. All baskets will be picked up at the designated lunch times.

MAP Assessment

We will test kindergarten through eighth grade students using the computer-based MAP assessments tool from 8/25-9/5. The purpose of MAP Growth and MAP Reading Fluency (K-2) is to inform teachers of the immediate instructional needs of students. MAP results equip educators with key data to help personalize instruction and pinpoint individual student needs. Please note that MAP has updated their national norms in 2025 so you may see some variance in your students’ national percentile rank than in past MAP assessments. Individual classroom testing schedules will be forthcoming.

PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports)

PBIS is in full swing again this year at Einstein. Be on the lookout for student recognition from our staff and their peers!

Our goal is to teach students positive behaviors, so that all students can work in a school environment that is safe, fun, free from distraction, and conducive to maximum learning potential.

Progressive Discipline

Emphasis at Einstein is for students to practice self-discipline and accept more responsibility for their behavior. Behavior that is disruptive to the education process and infringes upon the rights of others will not be tolerated. A consistent structure for progressive consequences is utilized across all locations in the school throughout the day including during arrival/dismissal, specials, acceleration periods, lunch, and recess. This is the process that we have and will continue to follow.

  • First infraction: Warning from staff member
  • Second infraction: Classroom-issued consequence and potential phone call home
  • Third infraction: Second level classroom-issued consequence and required parent phone call
  • Fourth infraction: All of the above and referral to the office
  • Severe Clause: Dangerous or extreme off-task behaviors immediately referred to the office

As stated above, students displaying “Severe Clause” behavior will receive an immediate referral to the office and parents/guardians will be notified by the school administrator. Examples of “Severe Clause” behaviors would include: fighting; insubordination; serious verbal abuse or use of profanity or obscenity; acts that jeopardize the health, safety, and welfare of another; repeated and willful behavior that constitutes disregard for the rules and regulations of the school; and chronic behaviors involving classroom disruptions or inappropriate language.
